Your estate agent may try to persuade you to use a company recommended by or linked to them - the reason they do this is because they often receive a fee for sending your work to that company.  Also, many of these recommendations are to large impersonal "factory" conveyancers.  Our experience of talking with clients who have used these types of services is that they are often call centre orientated (and we all know what that means), often hundreds of miles away where no-one knows who you are and you almost never get to speak to the person doing your work. The result is a frustrating experience. Our experience of dealing ourselves with these types of providers is also almost always negative.
